Unplug: to disconnect.

Something I relish and apparently have gotten quite good at, disconnecting. When I looking at designing a life I don’t need a vacation from, I’ve got to talk about unplugging.

Vacation Tammy unplugs. Oh, I might send the odd email to let family back home that I am safe and well. But for the most part, when I’m away, I unplug. I disconnect.

It’s not so much about escaping anything. At least not that I’m aware of.

It’s about being fully present where I am at. To live in the moment so to speak. I don’t want to be distracted by the conveniences of my mobile devices and virtual conversations or stories happening somewhere else.

Just to marvel at the beauty of a sunset instead of trying to get the perfect insta shot. To enjoy the company of my diner date. Not be distracted by a virtual conversation that can wait. I want to know the story of a place instead of watching one online. I want to experience the world instead of viewing it through a social media lens.

So I unplug and absorb every precious vacation moment there is.

Wanting to incorporate Vacation Tammy into every day living, I recently unplugged. Apparently for 5 months. Yikes! My last post on staycation was in the fall. Hubby and I have been exploring locally and having lots of fun. Getting to know each other better with this newly adopted quality of time. I have lots of great locals to share with you. But those are posts for later days.

Right now, the next moment awaits and I don’t want to miss a thing. See you soon.

  1. I’ve been missing your voice here, so am happy to you back. I understand the need to disconnect and be present, it’s difficult to balance somedays.

  2. I enjoy reading your posts! They make me want to wander and explore, to leave everything behind and live new moments. So much easier to do when on vacation! I will stay tuned for tips on how to do this in my everyday!
